The Blue Mountains village of Blackheath has a new attraction. Her name is Princess, and she spends much of her time at the newly extended Blackheath Interiors and Homewares, in Govetts Leap Road. She’s a border collie cross. I’m not sure what the cross bit is, but judging by her gentle nature it might be a lamb. She has been winning the hearts of locals with her sweet nature and friendly welcome.
By the way, there are many treasures to be found in the shop, often sourced by the owners at antique auctions. It was great to see that the extension has allowed the addition of an upholstery section. With a new house underway, I may be selecting some of these fabrics myself soon.
But back to Princess, who has already had her portrait painted a couple of times. Here is one by Sydney artist Robin Martin;
The photo below is of Princess’s owner Rebecca Larkin with co-owner of the shop, Kit Newcombe, It was taken recently for a feature by the local newspaper.
Time to go. I think precious Princess is feeling a bit weary from all the attention.
