The Studio was home for myself and my partner Rob  while we built our new house at Blackheath, in the beautiful Blue Mountains. After  moving out we  decided to let the detached property to birdwatchers, bushwalkers and nature lovers on a short stay basis.  Acer Corner  is within walking distance of the village and the railway station. It is a couple of  hundred metres from Memorial Park,  the local swimming pool and the newly restored duck pond. The latter is a wonderful spot to photograph native wood ducks.

There is reverse cycle A/C, although there is also a stove for those who love the coziness of a log fire. Tinder and firewood are provided free of charge.

A cheery sight in a Blue Mountains winter.

Visitors are welcome to explore the whole garden, but can also enjoy a more  private area behind  The Studio. It needs a season or two to mature. The red blooms in the background are waratahs, which attract nectar feeding birds such as tiny silvereyes.

The birdlife here is amazing, and includes  king parrots, crimson rosellas, thornbills, Eastern spinebills and blue wrens.

Here is a composite shot  a friend made for me one day;

The Studio is surrounded by gardens and birdlife.

Some of many.

We also have a resident pair of Tawny Frogmouths. They roost in a gum tree in the back corner of the property.   It’s a joy to show them to guests.

The Studio has dedicated, undercover parking.

We are looking forward to sharing Acer Corner  with visitors,  and meeting fellow lovers of nature. Don’t forget to bring your camera, especially in spring and autumn. It’s wise to book well ahead for peak times such as April/May and September/October.  Here are some reviews from the first few weeks of opening.
