Remember The Summit, that revolving restaurant towering above the city? It closed for renovations in 2012 and re-opened as O Bar & Dining. My partner Rob took me there recently for a significant birthday celebration.

Due to the wretched Covid19 Rob and I hadn’t been to Sydney in almost a year. It was really special to watch familiar harbour views slowly passing before us.

Right, cocktails to begin with. This one was called Japanese Ripple, with raspberry infused vodka, red sake and yusu. Yes, there were a couple of others I couldn’t resist. π

First course….oh yes, in my opinion seared scallops have to feature in any special meal!

Main course – slow roasted lamb rump with sides of new potatoes, roasted eggplant and broccolini.

LIFE IS STILL SWEET….EVEN AT 70!
For a birthday, dessert is always the main event. My choice turned out to be a bit of a show stopper.

That’s the dish at right in the following photo….only visible once the mist had cleared. π The two other little dishes and the box of chocs and sweets were a special birthday treat. It was like having my own dessert bar. I’m afraid I have decapitated Rob and not really mentioned what he was eating. But hey, I was the one having the big day!

Anyway, he gave a big tick to his poached and roasted summer fruits.

OK….here he is. π₯°

We had arrived while the sun was still shining, and before we left Sydney turned on her lights.

A truly magical experience with impeccable service……. thanks O Bar! ππππ§‘

Thanks Marcia. I promised to write this review for our local community FB group, who suggested we go there. π
Hi Pauline, wonderful restaurant.
Before I became a fine arts valuers and Auctioneer, my 1st real job was at the Summit as a ‘commie’ or apprentice there. been back many times.

Oh, that’s interesting Simon. We took a lot of visitors to the old Summit. Our Blue Mountains community group suggested O Bar and I promised I’d write a review.
