Aunty Ed’s seemed a good place to celebrate a significant birthday for a small bear by the name of Editor Des.  Reaching a quarter of a century deserves recognition. Not a telegram from the king just yet. but something special from  Australia Post.

AUNTY ED’S …PERFECT FOR TEDS  🐻

The last time my partner and I went to this retro themed restaurant it went under the name Aunty Jack’s.

I still have a photo from those early days. I can’t remember what that milkshake was called, but I do remember the old-fashioned pineapple lollies on top. Editor Des was most impressed when I showed him.

It was the milkshakes that  Des was most looking forward to; this image was dancing in his head;

The reality certainly lived up to expectation.

The perfect shake at Aunty Ed's for a bear on his birthday.

Wow, I may need a little help with this.

Next up….Strawberry Cream.

Aunty Ed’s specializes in amazing hamburgers, such as this one with shredded pork shoulder and red cabbage.

To our surprise Des said that much as he loves burgers he thought he should order something sophisticated and French for his main course.   Well it was his day and he ordered baked Camembert wrapped in prosciutto.  I tried some and yes, it was delicious.

The most special part of the meal was when staff brought out birthday cake with a lighted candle to wish their little customer a happy day. It such a thoughtful thing to do, and much appreciated.

Here he is following the old tradition of making a wish before the knife hits the plate.

If you are celebrating a special occasion, especially with someone young (or simply  young  at heart), go along to Aunty Ed’s. In some ways it has the nostalgic charm of The Paragon, which we all hope may return some day.
