My young friend Miss Milly has not always been comfortable around nature. Here she is hiding behind Editor Des when our Kookaburra called Taffy came to visit. She thought he might fly off with her to Govett’s Leap. Or pull her hair.
Her idea of nature is more about gathering daisies for one of her many hats, then popping off to Sydney for a coffee and a new pair of shoes..
We (OK, mostly I) decided she should go on a walk by herself up to Blackheath village.….just to better appreciate the beauty around her. It was a bit breezy, so a hat might have been a good idea on this occasion! By the way, we do have a gate, but she chose a short-cut via the neighbour’s place. Unusually adventurous on her part.
Just look at this spectacular, natural carpet of rhododendron petals in Soldiers’ Memorial Park….now .that did take her fancy. Her favourite colour too.
There will soon be apples for the taking up in Park Avenue….well that’s if a wretched cockatoo doesn’t get in first.
The cherries were ripe and I’m afraid, like the cockatoo, Miss Milly pinched a few. What’s the concentration on food all about? Editor Des’s influence I suspect.
Nearly home and it was time for a little rest by the duckpond. But oh my goodness, a long-necked turtle wandered over to say hello. Silly Milly was frozen with fear, when the dear soul meant no harm at all.
WILDLIFE AT CLOSE QUARTERS!
Somehow I think it might be back to the café culture for Miss Milly. She says Devonshire tea is far better than an encounter with a turtle! Ah well, to each their own I guess.
UPDATE – well Milly, the café culture vanished for the time being, Back to adventures in the garden.
Dear little Milly, sweet as cherry pie herself.
She is very sweet, Fiz. Editor Des is a lucky young man. x
Lovely to see Molly remaining so clean after all her adventures!
Haha, yes….always trying to keep her dress and pantaloons spotless. Only her wild hair lets her down. x
