CHRISTMAS PUDDING ...now the strangest tale I ever heard was about Charles Dickens cooking one in a top hat.

However, my own effort surely comes a close runner-up. By the way, I’ll put a link to the Dickens story at the end of this piece.

I’m ashamed to admit that despite being over 70, I had never made a plum pudding before.ย  This is why I decided against a traditional, steamed version. Instead I chose to make a frozen, Australian themedย  version.ย  Very simple.ย  Here is what goes in;

Of course I needed a bowl, which I didn’t have.ย  ย My solution was to buy a ready made pudding, remove it and pop it in the freezer, then use the plastic bowl it came in.ย  ๐Ÿ˜Ž So clever, if I say so myself.

Christmas pudding purchased for the bowl.

Lined with clingwrap as per instructions.

You could not get more Aussie than Tim Tams, or a tin of condensed milk for that matter.

METHOD

I had to hope that plastic bowl would be a suitable substitute for a tin, and I don’t have an electric mixer these day, but never mind.

Well, the three minute electric beating was about 25 minutes with a hand heldย  whisk. I had to call on my associate Editor Des to take over with a fork.

That looksย  about right, firm peaks at last. Now stir in the Tim Tams. Don’t get too close Des.

Oh for heaven’s sake! How much did you eat?ย  ย  Andย  I only made a half quantity.

Into the freezer overnight, or what was left of it.

And there we have it….Christmas Pudding ร ย  la Pauline (assisted and hindered in equal measure by Desmond.).

I didn’t have anyย  Tasmanian raspberries (the best kind), so I decorated the top with robins instead. Yes, it’s a bit rustic.

Tim Tam Christmas Pudding

Not very high. being a half mixture and some eaten by Editor Des,

This is how it’s supposed to look;

Of course it’s delicious….well how could it not be with those ingredients?
